It’s not every day a client presents a brief that says ‘blue sky, design for the future’. The primary aim of Contact's new bill project was to design an improved bill that would deliver complex information in a simple and relevant way. The original concept was web-based and gave every customer a secure, blank page on the Contact website. Information was grouped and set up as modules, enabling customers to select as much or as little information they wanted, and then to display it on the page as they preferred to access the information. One customer may simply wish to know how much to pay, another may want to know exactly when and where their energy spend went. The full potential has yet to be realised online, but this modular approach gave us a good platform for creating an information-driven bill for the real world.
